The painter Klaus-Maria Kehrwald, born in Saarlouis in 1959, does not fit into any of the art historical categories. He lives and paints from his gut with the full consciousness of a European soul, rooted in its own sense of self and aware of its place - every bit as bewildering as fascinating - always in and of itself - always rejecting, yet desiring otherness - loving oneness, yet full of hatred and contempt. It has solved the riddle without the viewer. We feel cheated, yet we want to see it all.
